Welcome to Prince William County R/C Flyers Club!

Fry N Fly 2010

E-mail Print PDF

The Fry N Fly was held Saturday Aug 21 and judging from the reactions of the attendees, it was a very successful event.  We had great weather, great food, great contest events, great field conditions, and great family and friends to share it with. Jason Fine developed and organized three very exciting contests for both pilots and spectators. He made sure all contestants were well briefed and ready show off their skills.  It appeared to some of us that some of this was along with solid support from Abby.  Marsh DeHart ensured that the winners of the contests, raffle, and prize drawings received some very nice items.  He also provided us focus on safe operations.  Special thanks are due to Hobby Hangar for their generous support.  Please stop by there and tell Bob we appreciated their help.  Food supplies and set up was provided by Denny Smith and Gary Robinson.  Dave Faint with yours truly manned the BBQ.

Scout Support event

The club conducted a very successful support event on July 28 at Camp Snyder for a contingent of young men from the tri-state area.  Through a very generous annual contribution and mentorship of a business fraternity in Northern Virginia, over 65 kids from the region had an opportunity to spend a week at Camp Snyder conducting various outdoor activities.  We were fortunate to be asked again this year to support this group with aviation related presentations, discussions, and R/C demonstrations.  A team composed of Nic Burhans, Marsh Dehart, John Bisaga, Joe and Josh Franco, Rob Edmonds, Ron King, Duane Hlavinka, and myself conducted a very dynamic program for the kids.  Although warm, flying conditions were great for this team to demonstrate aircraft flight.  A few of the kids got to experience R/C flight via a buddy box with our club trainer.  Our thanks to this group for taking the time to come out and support these great kids.

A Good Board Meeting

E-mail Print PDF

Last board meeting was held at the field and in support of a scout activity. Lots of fun was had by all in one of the better "after work" sessions I've had in a while! While the amount of scout activity was a little short of expectations, there was no shortage of flying and enjoyment of a great afternoon and evening!

Can't even recall of any major incidents, only a broken stab-spar on Doug's Tango to remind all that contrary to popular belief, you can actually have too much control throw and power... Jason then promptly showed us that may not apply to heli's...
